Deprived school children in Mulankavil Maha Vidyalayam and Nallur Maha Vidyalayam in Poonalari Divisional Secretariat experienced difficulties in attending schools due to transport problems. Based on the request made by the Principals and the Divisional Secretary, on the advice of the Northern and Eastern Provinces Development Committee which functions under the guidance of the Prime Minister Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe , the Ministry of National Integration and Reconciliation has provided 85 bicycles to the most deprived schools children to avoid drop outs and increase the school attendance said Mr.V.Sivagnanasothy, Secretary, Ministry of National Integration and Reconciliation.

Further, the Ministry has also taken action to provide transport services for school children through Ministry of Transport and National Transport Commission. These initiatives are part of the reconciliation efforts and part of the Sustainable Development Goals to increase access to primary and secondary schools in the conflict affected poverty pockets said the Ministry Secretary Mr.V.Sivagnanasothy.

The event was graced by Hon.Mavai Senathirajah, M.P and Chairman , Parliamentary Sectoral Oversight Committee as Chief Guest and was participated by Mr.V.Sivagnanasothy, Secretary, Ministry of National Integration and Reconciliation, Mr.S.Arumainayagam, District Secretary, Kilinochchi, Mr. Krishnendran, Divisional Secretary, Poonakari and Northern Provincial Officials.
